Please allow me to introduce myself

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Derrick Barber and I am an inspired entrepreneur and business minded individual. I operate an affordable web design company called London Ontario Web Design. I worked on growing this business for about a year while also working at a bar in the back office, helping out the owner with whatever she needed help with. After watching a year quickly pass me by, I realized I wasn’t going to reach my goals in this situation (ie: I was going broke). I needed to take my business to the next level. 

In order to bring the business to the next level, I planned to launch a new business simply called LOWD Media. LOWD Media is a full service advertising and design firm which specializes in offering everything a business startup needs when it comes to advertising and design in one spot. Along with Dave P. who is somebody I met while searching for a new sales manager, we dusted off my old business plan and made it something I could show to the small business center when looking for funding. They said it was a great start, but the length should be about double what I had. We revised the plan and I was introduced to the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. Other volunteer business minded individuals in the community gave me feedback on the business plan, I went through a friendlier version of The Dragons Den, and was able to obtain funds to launch my new venture. CYBF set me up with a mentor and here I am.

The reason I am creating a blog is because I want to share my experience of being an entrepreneur with people. I want to grow with other business minded individuals in the community. I want to help entrepreneurs when I can and I want other entrepreneurs to help me when they can help me. I want to share stories of success and lessons learned from failures. I encourage everybody who wants to share to do the same. I am by no means a Guru – yet… but as I touched on before, I have a lot of knowledge that can help entrepreneurs and am always willing to learn from other entrepreneurs as well.
